Child Homeopathy: Natural Remedies for Your Little One

July 3, 2023

About me

I’m Song, a 51 years young Asian-Black American woman living in central Italy and I work as a Natural Health Practitioner, teacher and  writer for a cultural magazine. I left the U.S. when I was 20 years old to travel. After that year abroad I went to study in England, then after  graduating from university I built my life in London until I met my Italian partner and after a few years we decided to start a family, but in Italy. As you will see later in the article, I am a strong proponent of child homeopathy, along with other natural therapies.

Motherhood in a foreign country

I have a 9 year old girl who very happily attends Steiner school. Some might say I had her quite late but I disagree because I realized from my travels in Developing countries like Madagascar, as long as you are healthy and have a normal cycle you can have children as late as you would like. Our family mainly eats organic food. We spend our weekends and summers in the countryside doing sports, relaxing, breathing clean air and being in nature.

After my daughter was born in Italy without any serious complications, I realized that I had relied solely on physicians and hospitals for her healthcare. As a single woman living away from my family, I hadn’t observed how my relatives and friends raised their children, leaving me clueless about child health issues and lacking guidance. Despite having a Homeopath in London for the past 20 years, I hadn’t found a similar practitioner near me. I knew homeopathy could be very helpful on a child. However, motherhood was a new experience, and I struggled to assimilate into the local society, especially due to my limited proficiency in Italian.

The first fever

For her first few months she was in good health, never catching cold or flu, only constipation and colic. When she was 7 months old we traveled to Malibu and stayed with friends for an engagement party. There was an old friend of mine from Middle School staying there too with her family. Her 7 month old son had a very bad cough and I found out later that he had just been immunized before coming to Malibu. He and my daughter played happily together for a few days then we left California for DC to visit my family. When we arrived she started to feel a little hot, her face was reddish and her nose was blocked.

Trials and tribulations

It was the first time she had a high fever so I started to panic. I started to Google everything to find an answer. I sponged her down with cool water but this just made her get hotter. Since this didn’t work, I gave her a few different child homeopathy remedies that did not affect her fever. Then finally I read somewhere that I should undress her so I did and this helped. But the fever was still high and her lips were turning a dark color and her eyes were rolling back. I finally texted my Homeopath even though it was around 3 am in London. She called me, I gave her the details and she reassured me that small convulsions rarely do harm. And in cases like this one could easily go for Bella Donna but this was not the appropriate remedy.

Finding the Right Remedy

Following the brief chat with my Homeopath, she recommended Apis as the suitable remedy for my daughter’s condition. Apis, which I luckily had in my Homeopathy kit of 50 popular remedies, proved to be a game-changer. Within minutes of administering Apis, my daughter’s fever drastically reduced. Her lip color became normal, and the febrile convulsions ceased. She also experienced relief from mucous and cough within three days.

Apis, a homeopathic remedy derived from the honeybee, can be effective in addressing conditions with symptoms such as high fever, redness, and swelling. It played a crucial role in my daughter’s recovery, highlighting the power of homeopathy in acute situations.

Finding the right remedy for your child’s health issues is a journey that often requires guidance from a trained Homeopath. I highly recommend seeking professional advice, either by finding a reputable Homeopath near you or even exploring online resources. Having a well-stocked Homeopathy kit can also be beneficial in addressing common acute ailments and providing immediate relief.

Remember, individual experiences may vary, and it’s important to consult with a healthcare professional or a qualified Homeopath for personalized advice based on your child’s specific symptoms and medical history. Homeopathy has been, in my experience, a invaluable natural therapy for my child.

Conclusions

That moment was pivotal for me as a mother.  And please note that to be a Homeopath one needs to be objective so that is why I could not treat my daughter successfully, nor do I give treatments to close friends or family. I highly recommend taking a short course on Homeopathy for treating acutes/emergencies and even better find a good Homeopath near you or even online. After this event I concluded I should study fever, so I studied and read lots of research papers. Fever is a defense mechanism to burn off anything that is threatening to cause an imbalance to our health.

Until this day she’s had minimal synthetic medications. I allow her body to heal and I only use drugs in an emergency or if the imbalance lasts too long. To maintain hey good health we use Acupuncture, Homeopathy, diet, cranial sacral therapy, osteopathy, etc. I can truly attest that I find alternative medicine as a reliable first line of defense for most, if not all, diseases.
